A Town and Country Wedding

What’s better than one New England wedding?? Two, of course! Caroline and Nilton wanted the best of both worlds—Boston and the Berkshires—and I’d say they got exactly what they wished for! The pair resides in Boston, near their family homes, and wanted to have their official wedding ceremony take place in Caroline’s home church, Our Lady’s Help of Christians, where her grandparents, parents, and aunts and uncles were all married!

Following that ceremony, the wedding party, family, and many of the guests made the beautiful drive down the Mass Turnpike to bring their town and country wedding full circle. Arriving at Wheatleigh Hotel on a gorgeous, sunny Friday in June, their dinner that evening was more like the traditional rehearsal dinner/welcome reception, with long tables and upscale-casual fare, speeches and toasts, and plenty to celebrate!

The next morning, at their wedding in the Berkshires, they started all over again, with their second ceremony in the sculpture garden of the Gilded Age estate, followed by cocktail hour on the upper terrace, a dinner tent that was ginger-jar inspired and dancing back inside the house until the wee hours of the morning.

Blue and white is such a beautiful, classic color palette, and there is no place more perfect than Wheatleigh to serve as the backdrop! Using lush, all-white flowers, textured white table linens, vintage china and silver, and elegant Louis cane chairs, this look was one of my favorites of the season.

Caroline and Nilton cut their traditional white wedding cake as dancing commenced, and placed several trays and bowls of Caroline’s grandmother’s Italian Wedding cookies, complete with her special recipe attached, around the room. Between these (delicious!) cookies and the meaningful family church ceremony, I don’t think they could have planned a more perfect way to start a lifetime of happiness!
